Time for Bethune Farce to Come to an End!

Recently, the Canadian government’s funding of Henry
Norman Bethune Memorial left many doubting it seriously.
Canadian Parliament Member Rob Anders points out that

the government should not use taxpayers money
to memorialize an evil Communist Maoist follower.
Canadian media also posted a special column saying that

Bethune is a farce caused by the Chinese Communist Party
and it is now time to end the show.

On July 11th, the Canadian government contributed 2.5 million
Canadian Dollars to build Bethune Tourist Reception Center
in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
Yet the controversy surrounding this project is far from over.

On July 21st, The Toronto Sun posted the Newspaper
founder Peter Worthington’s article,
pointing out that Bethune is a farce caused by the Chinese
Communist Party and it is now time to end the show.

The article recounted the author’s meeting with Michel Gauvin
– Canada’s ambassador to China at the time (since deceased).
Gauvin had said “I would appreciate it if for the duration of
my time in China as Canada’s ambassador,
that there be no more toasts in my presence to Dr. Bethune.

I feel must tell you that I do not consider Dr. Bethune a
Canadian patriot, but hostile to the values of my country.”

Dr. Ye of Public Policy at the University of Southern California:
“Canada is a democratic, free society with human rights.
Bethune went to China to support the Communist Party.

However the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has a history of
dictatorship and suppression of human rights.”

Dr. Ye says that CCP has always opposed universal values,

especially recently by selling death-row prisoners’ organs
and the live harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners’ organs.
They have also promoted Communist Red Songs (such as to
Hong Kong, etc), the CCP is criticized even more so.

Chinese history scholar Li Yuanhua says that the CCP using
Bethune’s foreigner identity to promote itself is very poisonous to its people.

Chinese history scholar Li Yuan Hua: “Bethune is unlike the
propaganda CCP has been promoting.
He does not have the professional ethics of
a good doctor or a surgeon.
So in reality, he is a glossed up model which the Communist
Party created to educate the common people.”

According to Canadian Historian Roderick Stewart and his
wife Sharon, Bethune indulged in sex, has a violent temper, and his marriages repeatedly broke down.

In 1936, Bethune participated in the Spanish Civil War and
built the first historical mobile blood transfusion station.
However, he allowed himself to indulge in sensual pleasures,
abused alcohol, had a violent temper and was forced to leave Spain in the end.
In 1938, Bethune went to China, but old habits die hard,
he was found drunk for several days in a Brothel.

In 1939, Bethune died of septicemia after cutting his finger,
while serving as the army rescue doctor for the CCP.

At the last minute, the CCP got antibiotics and other
medicines.
When officials asked whether the medicine should be used or
not, Bethune answered: “Let’s use it. For the sake of our careers, life is also important.”
However, during the relaying of this the sentence became:
“Forget it. For the sake of our careers, life can also be sacrificed.”

After the death of Bethune, Mao Zeding intentionally wrote
an article, flattering Bethune for his sacrifice in the war against Japan. However, Bethune was unknown in Canada.

In reality, Bethune did not die for the anti-Japanese
movement but for the Chinese Communist regime.
The Epoch Times points out that Communist China only
participated in limited battles at the very beginning.
It then concentrated on preparing for the civil war.
What lies behind Bethune’s death is the CCP’s huge lie.
Faking to resist Japan on the surface but in actuality
expanding its own development.

Li Yuan Hua: “Bethune did not help Chinese people resist the
war, but worked backstage to impede China’s war efforts.
He was assisting the Communist Party
on those interference works.
In reality having a negative effect in salvaging
the Chinese Nation and Chinese people.”

In 1976, Canadian government set up Bethune’s former
residence and Bethune Memorial.
In 2009, Canadian government invested 2.5 million Canadian
Dollars to build Bethune Residence Visitor Center, from then on causing a series of controversies.

Ye Ke believes this is the result of long term propaganda.
In Mainland China, Bethune has been set in propaganda as a hero.

Ye Ke: “So in this modern time, a lot of countries take hi
popularity into consideration when it comes to economic, and travel benefits.”

Toronto Sun’s poll shows more than 80% of the people think
taxpayers should not fund a Memorial for Norman Bethune.
