Before Fleeing to the U.S. Consulate, Was Wang Lijun
Rejected by the British Consulate?

The soon-to-be-published British book reveals before fleeing
to the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu for asylum in last February,
Wang Lijun, Chief of Chongqing Public Security Bureau went
to the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou, but was rejected.
Analysts comments that Wang Lijun has many inside stories
about the British businessman Neil Heywood.
His rejection by the British Consulate shows their intentions to
keep that separate from Heywood’s case.

On February 19th the British Daily Telegraph reported that
the book will be published in April.
It says that in November 2011, soon after Heywood’s body
was found in a hotel room of Chongqing,
Wang Lijun dressed himself up as “an older man” and
quietly entered the British Consulate-General building.

The book quoted an insider of Chongqing officialdom.

He said “Wang Lijun brought the documents related to
Heywood and asked whether he can achieve a political asylum.
But the officials in the consulate didn’t take care of him.”

Hua Po, a Beijing political observer pointed out that Wang Lijun
was a honest assistant of the former Chongqing Secretary Bo Xilai.
He began to do lots of bad things for Bo.
Other countries should like to avoid him.

Hua Po, Beijing political commentator: “If a country gives
Wang Lijun political asylum, it will endure big pressure.
Because giving him asylum means the country wants
to protect him, but his hands are covered in blood.
British government will meet trouble if people ask Wang Lijun
to speak the truth, they will want to punish him.
So, Wang Lijun is like a hot potato.”

The U.S. Wall Street Journal reported that before Heywood
was murdered, he reported information of Bo Xilai’s family to British Military Intelligence for over a year.
But the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, wrote to the
Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee.
He insisted that Heywood wasn’t “an employee of
the British government agencies”.

Zhao Yuanming, a legal scholar and China issues’ expert
analyzed that even though Heywood wasn’t a professional
employee of British intelligence department, he was
an informant who is like an agent, or a double agent.

Zhao Yuanming: “The death of Heywood has some
relationship with British intelligence.
So, when Wang Lijun asked the British for Political asylum to
make a relationship with them, their first reaction was rejection.”

Zhao Yuanming analyzed that although British Consulate is
the first target of Wang Lijun for a political asylum, where
he had bargaining chips. However the rejection by British
Consulate was to try and separate from Heywood.

Zhao Yuanming: “British officials claimed repeatedly there is
no relationship with Heywood. What’s the reason?
If Britain confirmed Heywood is their intelligence employee,
it will shock any government especially Beijing. Why shock?
The intelligence work of Heywood is reaching the family of
a Politburo member.
Then what did the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) anti-spy
agency and their national security do?”

A spokesman of the British Embassy in Beijing said they had
no record of Wang Lijun at the Consulate-General in Guangzhou.

The forthcoming book revealed that on February 6th 2012,
just before Wang Lijun fled to U.S. consulate in Chengdu,
he contacted British and German consulates.

The British official confirmed that Wang Lijun had an
appointment with the British Consulate-General in Chongqing.
However he didn’t keep the appointment.

Hua Po: ”If he entered the British Consulate in Chongqing,
Chongqing police don’t care the international law.
They will break into the consulate without any hesitation and
take Wang Lijun away. Then kill him secretly in a short time later.
This is what Bo Xilai can do. He is taking action recklessly.”

The book said Wang Lijun told U.S. officials in the U.S.
Consulate that Gu Kailai poisoned Heywood.
Bo Xilai personally ordered the Chongqing police to “break into
the U.S. consulate by force to arrest Wang Lijun”.
A “retired U.S. official” said 700 Chinese police surrounded the
consulate, making CCP leader Hu Jintao “embarrassed and angry”.
Then Hu personally got involved in the dealing, then Wang Lijun
was brought to Beijing and detained there.

In last August, Gu Kailai was sentenced to death with
reprieve for the crime of murder.
In September, Wang Lijun was sentenced to 15 years in prison
on crimes of bending the law for selfish ends, defecting, and so on.
Bo Xilai is suspected of usurping power, corruption, etc. and
he will face trail after the two session in March.
