Grave Military Neglegience Delays Relief Efforts for Ludian Casulties

Days have passed since the 6.5 earthquake happened in
Ludian County, Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province.
Landslides, impassable roads and poor rescue
aggravated the disaster, causing thousands of casualties.
Currently the disaster settlement sites are poorly managed.
There are still villages where rescue services still have
not arrived.

Villagers suffer from shortages of water and food.

Facing this devastating disaster, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
media started to argue over rescue soldiers making
“muddy water noodles soup."

On August 3, a 6.5 earthquake happened in Ludian County,
Zhaotong City of Yunnan Province.
CCP media reported at 10a.m. on August 6 that
the death toll increased to 589, with over 2,000 injuries.
Millions of people were affected.

The epicenter of the earthquake was Longtoushan Town.
Some villages there were almost completely buried,
and only a few villagers survived.

Currently at least dozens of people are buried at
Ganjiazhai of Longquan Village.
The number of casualties of some villages is not clear,
due to high numbers of migrant workers.

Babao Town residents Yang Falin said that
until now more than 20 victims are still buried underground.

Yang Falin: “Hundreds of houses either fell down or
were uninhabitable.
Aftershocks happen at any time and people die at any time.
Water has burst out of dams. In some dams, the water is muddy.
We live in the Baobao Village.
More than two dozen dead are still buried in the rubble."

Although CCP media claimed that relief supplies
have gradually been transported to the disaster area,
there are a large number of victims who did not get any.

A village of hundreds of villagers only got four tents.
Victims only get a little food after lining up for a long time.
Victims are cold and hungry.

People in the Guangming Village of Longtoushan Town
suffer from shortages of water and food.
No rescue workers entered the village
days after the earthquake due to blocked roads.

Mr. Lin from Yinping Village of Longtoushan Town talked to
Chinese media, asking for help.
He said almost all buildings in the village collapsed.
There are about 5,000 villagers.
They do not have tents or medical assistance.
They lack food.
Two people died and the number injured cannot be estimated.
There are aftershocks.
They also face a threat from the Yanse Lake.
If there is a flood, the whole village will face extinction.

The entire Wangjiapo Village of Longtou Town was
flushed down from the altitude of 1,000 meters to 400 meters.
At present, rescue workers cannot carry out digging.
So the death toll is unknown.

Wangjiapo villager Mr. Yi: “Now we have lack of food.
Everyone is in tents.
There are still eight people buried under the house or in the soil.
We are still trying to rescue them."

For a 6.5 earthquake that caused thousands of casualties,
many people questioned claimed that the cause of death
was the buildings rather than the earthquake.

Chinese scholar Wu Zuolai: “In the past ten years,
more than three earthquakes above 5 Richter occurred in this area.
The government did not pay any attention to constructions.
In some remote places, the government did not help.
The government invested more than US $100 billion overseas.
Whose government is this?”

Along with high casualties, poor rescue and people’s doubts,
CCP media kept reporting on “muddy water noodles soup."
They kept clarifying the news, denying the “rumor” and
went through the cycle all over again.

On August 4, the CCP major media and online sites
reported the news that rescue solders at the Yunnan disaster area
“cooked using muddy water."

It caused netizens’ outrage and contempt and condemned the
CCP military’s incompetent logistical support and relief.

At the night of August 5, Global Times quoted
the military chief as saying that: the news about
“muddy water noodle soup" is false.

But in the morning of August 6, Central Broadcasting reported
that it was true and “coworkers ate it.”
Afterward, deputy director of the Global Network Hao Junshi
published a letter of apology, claiming it was true.

Former editor-in-chief of South Wind Window magazine
Zhu Xuedong said in his microblog:
“Whether the ‘muddy water noodle soup’ is true or not,
we feel sorry for the soldiers. Who lost face over this?
Military spending increases each year, but the logistics are so poor.
Without good logistics, how do you go into combat!
Do not tell me about the harsh conditions.
Relief is like war. If it was a war, it could be disastrous."
