周四下午，川普在推文中再次抨击美国主流媒体。
“假新闻媒体正在竭尽全力让经济崩溃，因为他们认为，这不利于我和我竞选连任。他们的问题是，经济太强劲了，而且我们很快就会在贸易问题上取得巨大胜利，这一点人人都知道，包括中国！”

美国经济目前非常乐观。商务部周四公布，7月份零售额增长强劲，涨幅达0.7％。
周四上午，川普在另一篇推文中表示，美国是迄今为止世界上最大、最强、最有力的经济体，甚至没有能与之接近的。当其它国家经济衰退时，美国只会变得更加强大。消费者目前处于最好的状态，有充足的现金。商业乐观度也处于历史最高水平。

美国全国广播公司财经新闻频道（CNBC）主持人克莱默（Jim Cramer）说，关于周三的市场损失，媒体应该“抑制自己的歇斯底里”。
他指出，道琼斯工业平均指数较去年同期上涨约9％，其它市场指数甚至更高。
克莱默告诉美国全国广播公司（NBC）《今天》（Today）节目，人们应该认识到，事情并不像媒体所描述的那么可怕。

川普指出，《纽约时报》的报导完全是偏见和不准确的。该报纸是虚假的，毫无可信性。假新闻再次受到打击，但这次打击很大。
