On Dec. 5, the Communist Politburo expelled Zhou Yongkang
from the party and transferred the case to the judiciary.

On Dec. 6 night, Xinhua News Agency reported briefly that
Supreme People’s Procuratorate has arrested Zhou Yongkang
and placed him under a legal investigation.

The report disclosed the charges against Zhou such as discipline
violation of political, organizational, confidential, bribe taking,

The report also mentioned other alleged crimes, but made
no mention of the two core crimes of Zhou Yongkang,
the coup attempt and the live organ harvesting
from Falun Gong practitioners.

Leung Chun-ying Disregards Student Hunger Strike

The hunger strike of Hong Kong students continued on Dec. 5
in the hope to reopen dialogue with the Government.

Hong Kong’s Ming Pao Daily reported, Scholarism convener
Joshua Wong reiterated that dialogue is to discuss and reopen
political reform, not to overthrow the CCP Congress’ decision
on Aug. 31.
It is neither illegal nor a violation of the Basic Law.

He stressed restart of political reform is within the authority
and duty of Leung Chun-ying.

However, Leung Chun-ying indicated the dialogue lacks basis
for the students have demanded to overthrow
National Congress’ decision.

Also participating in the hunger strike, the Hong Kong Baptist
University student Isabella Lo, has announced the end of her
strike at 21:00 on the 5th after 94 hours of starvation.

She suffered from low blood sugar, dizziness, rapid heartbeat
and fever.
But she said that she will return to the occupied territories
and continue the protest.

Hong Kong Academics March in Gown to Support Students

On the same day, Hong Kong academics conducted a
demonstration to support the students
and condemn the Hong Kong police and government.

In the afternoon, hundreds of college faculty wearing
academic gowns, holding slogans, “I want true universal suffrage,"
marched all the way to the government headquarters
from the Legislative Council, through the Supreme Court,
the occupied territories, and civic plaza.

After two minutes of silence, The Confederation of Tertiary
Institutes Staff Unions vice-chairperson Albert Li read the
declaration that condemns the violations of law enforcement
police, such as the torture and excessive violence;
accuses CY Leung’s government of ‘dragging’ policy in handling
the protest and resulting in the impasse;
Leung is liable for the social division
and should reopen the dialogue with the students.
