Veterans of Anti-Japanese War Yearn for the Restoring
of the Truth of the War

July 7 is a “National Crisis Day" in modern Chinese history.
In 1937, the invading Japanese army in Northern China,
launched the “Marco Polo Bridge Incident".

The Kuomingtang (KMT) military had very poor
and backward equipment,
yet they still fought bitterly suffering heavy casualties.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has distorted history
since taking to power,

which lead to the suffering of oppression and
discrimination of the KMT veterans and their descendants.
On such a special day, they made an appeal once again
to restore the truth of the Anti-Japanese War.

On July 7, CCP Head Xi Jinping and other dignitaries, visited
“Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall"
located at the Marco Polo Bridge.
They attended the ceremony along with representatives
from various sectors,
the coming of such a scene is a rare sight indeed.
Media analysis claims, the intention of CCP, is to warn
Japan and counterattack the Japanese Abe government,
who removed the ban on the rights of a collective
self-defence on July 1.

In the morning of July 7, the President of Taiwan
“Republic of China (ROC)" Ma Ying-jeou,
also participated in three commemorative activities
of “Marco Polo Bridge Incident".
He said that the history of the Anti-Japanese War,
gradually fades in Taiwan, it is also masked
by the other side of the strait.

He said the war against Japan was the most brutal ethnic
jihad in Chinese history.

Because of the tough resistance of KMT army, and the
containment of the Japanese,

“ROC" was able to abolish the unequal treaties with foreign countries,
Taiwan also had a chance to recover.

According to historical records, after the Sino-Japanese War
broke out, KMT army attended 22 major joint battles.

204 heroic KMT army generals were martyred in the battles
and the number of casualties of military officers
and soldiers, reached 3.21 million.

At least twenty million civilians also died in the war.

A colonel during the war, and former head
of the Chongqing Telecommunications Team
(Mr Han Keming’s descedent) Han Liang said,
during the war, the CCP were also sinners,
they did not resist the Japanese army.
They hid themselves in Yan’an
and the Taihang Mountainous regions.
After the war, they came out to pick the fruits of the victory.

Han Liang:" They confounded the black and white,
confused right and wrong,
they even abused and beat KMT’s war heroes to death.
I witnessed these during the Cultural Revolution.

We descendants of KMT war heroes, were forced
to stay at the lowest level of society,
and CCP labelled us as one of ‘the black five categories’
and counter-revolutionary children,
they insulted and abused us."

Yang Guangjing was a veteran participating
in the anti-Japanese War.
He said, after the CCP took power, he was labelled
as “counter-revolutionary",
and was sent to a labor camp for many years during
the “Cultural Revolution".
He yearns to restore the historical truth about the war
and vindicate such veterans.

Yang GuangJing:"During the Cultural Revolution,
at that time many people (had been) persecuted.
There were many similar cases during that 10-year stint."

At present, most veterans alive today, are nearly
all one hundred years of age.

Mainland media reported, after CCP took to power,
these veterans were no longer recognised.
During the “Cultural Revolution", many veterans
had been labelled as " KMT spies" for persecution
and their families were also subject to discrimination.

The coverage gives an example: Long Yunsong was born
in Shaoyang City of Hunan Province in 1922.
He was conscripted into the army in 1940,
and later incorporated into the KMT’s Eighth Army
for fighting in many places against the Japanese.
During the “Cultural Revolution", Long Yunsong used to
be criticised and denounced,

now he has a weak and sick body and lives
a poverty stricken life.

Another veteran Li Songqing also experienced
the war against Japan. He was born in 1919
in Xinning City of Hunan Province.

He joined the army in 1937, and was then incorporated
into the Fifth Army.
It was commanded over by Li Tsung-Jen where Li served
as a member of the death squad against the Japanese
on the front line.
In the 1960s, Li Songqing was labeled as “counter-revolutionary",
and was criticised and denounced.
Thankfully he survived the ordeal.

In recent years, the historical truth of the war has been
gradually disclosed.
Many scholars and war veterans have asked upon CCP to restore
the original truth of that history.
Before last year’s anniversary of the “Marco Polo Bridge Incident",

the Ministry of Civil Affairs ofCCP, provided social security
to some “KMT" veterans who participated in the war
against the Japanese.

China’s “Great War Network" editor Jia Yuanliang said,
those veterans experienced many campaigns such as the
“three evils", “five evils", “Cultural Revolution" etc.,
it has not been easy for them to still be alive today.
What they need to do, is to restore the original truth
of that time period’s history.

Jia Yuanliang: “They need to be honoured for their major
contribution, sacrifice and blood shed during
the anti-Japanese War.They should receive the same equal living, political
rights and care as the veterans of the Eighth Route Army
and the New Fourth Army."

CCP media also strongly reported on the tragic memoirs
of the witnesses who experienced “Marco Polo Bridge Incident".

77 years ago, in the night of July 7, intensive gunfire
awakened the 6-year-old Zheng Fulai from his sleep.
He recalled that in the winter when the Japanese occupied
Wanping City, dead bodies could be found everywhere,
and many villagers in the Marco Polo Bridge area
were killed by the Japanese.
“That scene has been imprinted in his mind ever since."
